MDB Aerospace (US)

MDB engines are converted from Subaru automobile engines and were built and marketed by MDB Aerospace of Huntersville, North Carolina. MDB was reported (KP4/00) to be developing and selling EA-82 conversions at that time, along with converted Geo 3- and 4-cylinder inline auto engines, but nothing else has been found. Most Subaru conversions require reduction of propeller rpm from that of engine rpm; i.e., a Propeller Speed Reduction Unit (PSRU) and MDB recommended the belt-driven ones built by the Canadian firm Reductions. All of these engines are non-certificated engines for use in experimental, homebuilt aircraft.
