I have an old articulated connecting rod from I think an R-1830-90D,
that I had checked with a hand held spectrometer.
The chemistry print out said it was 4340 steel, and the hardness test
was 39.7 Rockwell C .
I did this a few years ago, and recently ran across the information while searching for something else.
