Engine start on youtube:

Interesting to hear a radial that isn't laden with the inertia of a prop.

Some links to videos of a Ford GAA tank engine being run on the ground also pop-up.

Most interesting! Especially that Ford engine slow idle sounds "oomphy"Smile

The GAA has a bit of a Harley-esq idle, doesn't it? Made me wonder if it was running on all eight. Watching the other videos featuring a GAA... does it have a 180 degree crankshaft? Sounds like it to me.

Hearing the Continental without a prop makes me wonder if there are any radial-powered helicopters still airworthy. The little R-975 sounds wild that way; an R-1820 or an R-2800 spinning just a flywheel would sound impressive too.
