I would like to know how durable they were? And the reason for using frictionless bearings (roller bearings) in an application where large intermittent loads are present, and where failure is very undesirable.
There are not many modern day engines that use frictionless bearings to support the crankshaft.
It would be interesting to see any reports of tests done to make the system trouble free. And how do the Wrights compare to the PW's as far as TBO.

Austin 7 uses ball bearings for the front & rear main bearings.... oh, you said "modern engine"... sorry!
