RG Experimental Engines are Volkswagen conversions built and marketed by VW Engine Centre of Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia. The designations of the engines begin with "RG TT" followed by the approximate displacement in cc. The "TT" stands for "Texas Twister" or "Texas Tornado" (for the RG TT 2200). These engines are built from newly manufactured components. The firm's engines have aluminum-alloy rather than VW-built magnesium crankcases and Stromberg altitude-compensating carburetors. Most models are available with direct drive or the firm's helical-gear-driven Propeller Speed Reduction Unit (PSRU). Electronically-Controlled Fuel Injection (EFI) is now an option on all engines.
