Mekker (US)

Mekker engines were Volkswagen "1600" series auto engines converted to aircraft engines using kits manufactured by William J. Mekker of Newbury, Ohio. Mekker said, in 1967-1969, that any 1600cc VW engine built beginning in 1961 could be converted to a standard comparable to the later VW 1600 TL engines.
