CATIC, Huosai, Yuhe (China)

The CATIC engines described here were exported by the China Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation (CATIC) of Beijing, China. This firm handled sales of all engines built by the National Aircraft Engine Factories (Huosai) and also by the state-owned Yuhe Machine Factory (YMF) of Nanjing, China. The HS-16 was reported (J85-86) to be the first aircraft engine totally designed in China. All previous Chinese engines were license built engines (and probably developments of those). The HS-16 and HS-26 were displayed for the first time in the US at the 1982 EAA Oshkosh Airshow (Brinks). All of the engines reported here were for target drones, RPVs, or very light aircraft.
