Aircraft Engine Specialists of Chandler, Arizona was founded in 2000 by a merger of Varga Enterprises and Estergard Aviation that brought together firms with 40 years' total experience of service on aircraft engines. In 2002, the firm began building Lycoming O-360 series engines as KP360 engines for uncertificated, homebuilt experimental aircraft. The KP360 engines are based on parallel-valve versions of the Lycoming O-360 and IO-360, but with technological improvements that are not available on certificated engines, including many Superior Air Parts components.
