The National Air Force Museum of Canada at Canadian Forces Base Trenton is restoring Handley Page Halifax A. VII NA337 which was recovered from Lake Mjosa in Norway in September 1995. It had ditched in the lake on the night of April 13, 1945. The engines are Bristol Hercules XVIs. The Hercules has sleeve valves instead of the traditional poppet valves.

Junk Heads
The junk head seals the top end of the cylinder, houses the sparking plugs, and provide a space to "hide" the sleeve ports when the piston is on the compression and power strokes.
